Philippines – battles flood and landslide

Have you ever heard of global warming storm? If not yet, just check on the news and the aftermath of the storm Ondoy (Ketsana) and storm Pepeng (Parma) and you’ll know what it is. The location of the Philippines is ‘held responsible’ for the not less than twenty storms that visit the country. The country is among the few other countries which is located in the typhoon belt along with Japan, New Zealand and Canada. But the twin storms Ondoy and Pepeng do not have something to do with Philippines’ location anymore. It is now the result of people’s deaf answer to the nature’s call. Extensive raining which lead to flooding and soil erosion or landslides had taken a lot of people’s lives ( a lot still missing) and billions of property loss and damage. Celebrities, rich businessmen and common people had been equally affected, which only shows that it does not choose people’s status and lifestyle when it hits; that in calamities as this we all are equal. But it’s really a tear-jerker scene that people from all parts of the world has joined hand in hand in helping each and everyone who had been victimized by the two storms; no competition- just pure public service. This should be a wake up call for every one of us. Being deaf with ‘her’ pleas would possibly let have the history repeat itself. Let’s do something now.
